  3. Toggle on/off

Training the model

AI learns from your actions:
  • You select a category → AI remembers

Tips and best practices

Organizing categories

Don’t create too many:
  • 10-15 main categories is enough
  • Use subcategories for details
  • Too many categories = confusion
Group logically:
  • Similar expenses in one category
  • Use hierarchy
  • Don’t split small expenses
Examples of good structure:
🍔 Food (main)
  ├─ Groceries
  ├─ Restaurants
  └─ Delivery

🚗 Transportation (main)
  ├─ Gas
  ├─ Taxi
  └─ Public transport

🏠 Home (main)
  ├─ Rent
  ├─ Utilities
  └─ Repairs

Naming categories

Good names:
  • Short and clear
  • Describe expense type
  • No abbreviations
Examples:
  • ✅ “Groceries”
  • ✅ “Restaurants & Cafes”
  • ✅ “Public Transport”
  • ❌ “Food1”
  • ❌ “PT”
  • ❌ “Misc”

Using rules

Create rules for:
  • Frequent places (supermarkets, gas stations)
  • Subscriptions (Netflix, Spotify)
  • Regular payments
Don’t create rules for:
  • Rare purchases
  • Unique transactions
  • Too generic words

Regular review

Every 3 months:
  • Check used categories
  • Merge similar ones
  • Delete unused ones
  • Create new ones if needed
Analyze:
  • Which categories are used most
  • Are there many “Uncategorized” transactions
  • Do you need new subcategories

Frequently asked questions

Q: How many categories can I create? A: Unlimited. But we recommend 10-20 main ones for convenience. Q: Can I change the category for multiple transactions at once? A: Yes. Select transactions → Change category → Select new one. Q: What to do with “Uncategorized” transactions? A: Periodically review them and assign categories. Or create rules for automation. Q: Can I restore a deleted category? A: No. But you can create a new one with the same name and manually reassign transactions. Q: How to move a subcategory to another parent? A: Open subcategory → Edit → Select new parent category. Q: Does category order affect anything? A: Only the display in the list when creating transactions. Put frequently used ones at the top. Q: Can I use one category for both expenses and income? A: Yes, but these are two different categories with the same name. For example, “Rent” (expense) and “Rent” (income).
